UMass Building Authority Director of Capital Projects Joe Naughton to Speak at the 8th Annual Academic Real Estate Summit

NEWTON, MA– Joe Naughton, Director of Capital Projects at the University of Massachusetts Building Authority will speak at the 8th Annual Academic Real Estate Summit on Feb. 27 at Newton Marriott Hotel in Newton, MA.  The summit is organized by Boston Real Estate Times.

Joe Naughton

One of the speakers is Mr. Naughton, who has been the Director of Capital Projects of the University of Massachusetts Building Authority (UMBA) since September 2013.  He started with UMBA in 2012, serving as the Treasurer and Budget Director.

Mr. Naughton is responsible for the management of the planning, design, and construction of UMBA’s projects, including new construction, renovations, preventative maintenance, deferred maintenance, and real estate development on the University’s five campuses in Amherst, Boston, Dartmouth, Lowell, and Worcester.

He oversees procurement, budgeting and scheduling, ensures campus and end-user satisfaction, maximizes coordination of financial, contractual, and legal matters, and promotes efficiency and effectiveness opportunities.

Prior to joining UMBA, Mr. Naughton served in various positions at the University of Massachusetts President’s Office since 2006.  His roles included Director of Budget and Planning, Assistant Budget Director, and Capital Budget & Risk Plan Manager.  Previously, he was the Bond Fund Manager for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Operations Manager for the Governor’s Press Office.

He received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Isenberg School at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the Carroll School at Boston College.
